Despite coronavirus postponing the UK’s biggest pride event of the summer, Brighton have decided to still go ahead with their festival this year in a way audiences haven’t seen before.
To mark the 30th year anniversary since the first Brighton Pride this years event was going to be bigger and better than ever before.
With big names confirmed such as the Pussycat Dolls and none other than the best-selling female artist of all-time Mariah Carey were announced as headliners at Preston Park which showed that clearly Brighton was the place to be this year. Thankfully all the artists who were supposed to perform at this years pride have confirmed their appearance at next years festival.
There was a clear buzz across social media when Mariah uploaded a video on her official Twitter page confirming her excitement to headline Brighton Pride 2020.
The director of Brighton & Hove Pride Paul Kemp was just as excited at the announcement, this is what he had to say on the Brighton Pride website:

Sadly this years festival was postponed until August 2021 but do not fear, Brighton have you covered. This week you will be able to see Brighton Pride like you have never seen before right from the comfort of your own home.
With a spectacular line-up that includes exclusive performances, archive footage, comedy, cabaret, queer politics & more helping out to raise money for The Brighton Rainbow Fund. This years event really could possibly be Brighton’s most important pride ever.

How can I watch Brighton Pride this year?
Similar to other pride events that have taken place this year, the organisers for Brighton Pride have opted to go ahead with a digital format for the event. Taking place between Friday 29th July – Sunday 2nd August viewers will be able to watch this years pride for free!
How can I contribute?
Celebrating thirty years of Brighton Pride, this years digital event will help raise essential funds for LGBTQ+ community groups.
There will be familiar partners associated with pride this year as LYNX will be partnering with Brighton Pride for the third consecutive year. There has been new partners added this year as Closeup have become an official partner for Brighton Pride. Legal & General and OneFamily still remain heavily involved as partners for Brighton Pride too.

Titled ‘We Are FABULOSO’ Brighton pride will feature incredible artists across their digital platforms on the main stage, Cabaret Stage, BAME Stage, Pride Dance Big Top, QueerTown, Trans Fabuloso Stage and many more.

Fridays pre-party plan
The warm-up show will feature important figures such as the Mayor of Brighton & Hove Alan Robins, Peter Kyle MP, Caroline Lucas MP and Lloyd Russell-Moyle MP alongside a two hour DJ party set as Jean Paul Gaultier presents DJ Fat Tony.
With pride being digitally broadcasted this year viewers may struggle to feel apart of the celebrations which is why the festival have decided to also enable audiences to participate via Zoom.
Saturdays main-event showcase of the stars
Saturday’s broadcast will be featuring some of the biggest names in music to perform never-seen before broadcast sets from Brighton’s online main stage.
Headlining the main stage of the UK’s biggest digital pride of the summer will be Nile Rodgers & CHIC.
Other popular acts that will be performing will include: Carly-Rae Jepson, Years & Years (2017 Brighton Pride performance), Jess Glynne, Todrick Hall, Fatboy Slim, Pabllo Vittar, Billy porter (encore performance) and the artist who is currently number-one in the UK singles charts MNEK.
The Sunday session
Starting at 8pm and running through until 11pm, Sunday’s festival will be topping off this years event with a show stopping finale. With talented acts such as Lucy Spraggan, Katherine Ellis, Ty Jeffries, Kathy Caton and Brighton’s own legendary drag queen Lola Lasagne performing.
The Powder Room and The Glory will be performing last between the 10pm-11pm slot and Proudly assure you that they will make sure Brighton Pride goes out in style.
